Inside a martial state there could still be room for non violent corruption and bribery but zealots are much harder to influence! For the time being though he very much wants to get rid of Lament, possibly by using his new connection to the Lanterns (James' character) ... he wants to re-establish himself in the good books in the Queen's Men, and he wants to make them a legitimate trading guild that runs the city and makes fabulous wealth through the control and sale of delerium. Whisper has a sort of quiet, smug contempt for the gangs who seem happy to stew in the squalor of petty violent crime and mercenary assassination. He does however recognise he has to somehow win over or destroy such elements of the Queen's men if he's to see his plan come to fruition. Whereas thievery of, or profiteering from foolish noble youths dabbling in adventure is perfectly acceptable, outright murder is not his style. Besides, Whisper is more like to disguise himself as a thief, rob a gullible merchant or pompous knight, and then reappear round the corner as himself to return same stolen goods - less a few coins - to win the friendship of a potential future ally. ## Hooded Lanterns [[Hooded Lanterns]] The Pigs. The Law. The bad guys. Every Queen's man who grew up scrimping a living in Drakkenheim rightly loathes the Hooded Lanterns, who seem hellbent on exterminating the local population and setting up some tyrannical new regime (So Whisper used to think....) Whisper's job as a fixer, broker, dealmaker made him all the more cynical of the Hooded Lanterns, with their 'false' sense of order ... He seems them as pretending to bring civility and the rule of law when really it's just a military coup they're attempting. Now that he's been outcast by the Queen's Men and abandoned by his kinsfolk, he's got a grim plan in mind to try to manipulate the Hooded Lanterns into eliminating his arch enemy Christain Lament. Over time however, Whisper will probably come to see that they aren't so bad as the stories he was told as a child, and he himself taught the next generation of pick pockets and scallywags. ## Queens Men [[Queen's Men]] - Disgraced former member ## Followers of the Falling Fire [[Followers of the Falling Fire]] Steer clear! Nothing messes up a plan like a zealot, if you don't know how to steer them that is. Whisper has no faith, he's a Han Solo or a Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly) in that regard. He has time enough for the peaceful. ordinary folk who hold religion as a crutch but these guys are dangerous. Delerium is a means to create a prosperous, indeed wealthy, Drakkenheim. If these guys want to be a customer of the future rulers of the city, fine, but they can't be allowed in charge! ## Knights of the Silver Order [[Knights of the Silver Order]] What's more frightening than a zealot in sackcloth? A zealot in full plate with a longsword! Whisper would admit these guys are the best in the business when it comes to clearing Drakkenheim of the monsters and horrors that he wants rid of, but it's going to be tricky negotiating with them when it comes to the Queen's Men coming out on top of the pile for control of the city and the flow of delerium. How to harness their power and yet not let them harness you...that's the question. ## Amethyst Academy [[Amethyst Academy]] As a magic user who has escaped their grasp, I'm very wary of them. I remember back in the day things weren't so civilised as maybe they are now - children being snatched from their parents and never seen again. That being said, Whisper respects and fears their control of magic, and wishes he could be a more proficient magical adept himself. %% # NPC Relationships - Has worked with [[NPCs/Rose Carver]] in the past - Betrayed a couple years ago by [[Christain Lament]]
